10 Finn Balor Matches You Have To Watch

3. Prince Devitt vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi – Destruction 2013

It is easy to think of Bullet Club as uber-popular merchandise machines. With good reason. They are one of the most popular factions in wrestling. However, it did not start out that way. If you go back and watch Prince Devitt’s Lumberjack deathmatch with Hiroshi Tanahashi, you will get an idea of just how hated Bullet Club was in their first year.

These were despicable heels. This was a particularly hot crowd who desperately wanted to see Tanahashi crush these foreign menaces and defeat his rival. It is very unusual for a Japanese crowd to be this consistently hot for a more gimmicky match, but they were into every moment of it. When Tanahashi’s allies took out Bullet Club the cheers were deafening. When Tanahashi hit the High Fly Flo and got the pin, you would have thought he had won his first heavyweight championship from the reaction.

2. Finn Balor vs. Johnny Gargano – NXT Takeover: Portland

Finn Balor returning to NXT has helped revitalize his run in WWE after long stretches of lackluster showings on the main roster. So far, the highlight of his second NXT run has been his match with Johnny Gargano. At NXT Takeover: Portland, the two had their long-awaited singles match and what a match it was.

Balor had turned heel on Gargano in the fall resulting in Gargano getting injured. This led to the postponement of their match and by the time they battled in February they were ready to tear each other apart. And tear each other apart they did. Balor was very aggressive, showing his frustration with not being given proper recognition for the last four years. Gargano more than held up his end of the bargain and they had Balor’s best match under the WWE umbrella to date.

1. Prince Devitt vs. Kota Ibushi vs. Low Ki – Wrestle Kingdom 7

When Dave Meltzer calls this maybe the greatest three-way match in history, you know its good. Three of the best junior heavyweights in the world clashed over the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship here at Wrestle Kingdom 7 and they did not disappoint.

Devitt was still a clean-cut good guy here and was had to defend against the villainous Low Ki and the beloved Kota Ibushi. Ibushi was as talented then as he is today and Low Ki made the interesting choice to wrestle in a full suit and tie. The action in this match was off the charts. They all had great chemistry which could be seen in their prior matches but this was all of them at their best as juniors.

One of the highlights of an amazing show, if you want to see the man they call Finn Balor at his best, you need to check out this match.
