Following both Jade Cargill and Adam Copeland’s (Edge’s) recent decision to swap between AEW and WWE, the question on many fans’ lips has of course been who is going to be next?
While we have seen far more ex-WWE stars snapped up by Tony Khan, following the success of Cody Rhodes and what is so far looking like star treatment for Cargill, one can imagine others on AEW’s roster may be tempted to jump ship to Stamford.
Regardless, given the wealth of talent on each company’s roster, it’s only natural to theorise how some could be better utilised elsewhere.
So, with that in mind, it’s time to identify 10 stars form WWE and AEW who we believe could be next to cross the battle lines in the near future.
1. CM Punk to WWE
While this may seem unlikely following the various reports stating that WWE are not currently interested in Punk, it can’t be completely ruled out altogether.
Although Punk may not arrive at WWE Survivor Series 2023 in Chicago like was originally theorised, who’s to say WWE’s stance can’t change in the future.
Despite all the baggage from Punk’s 2014 exit, reports have suggested that it is Punk who is willing to return, so potentially bridges previously burned with the likes of Triple H can be repaired after all.
With an AEW return very unlikely, WWE seems like Punk’s only major pro wrestling option left.
However, the ball seemingly lies completely in their court.
Vince McMahon being ousted from the creative department, and potentially other areas, may be a big factor too.
