10 Randy Orton Matches You Must See

10. Randy Orton vs. Roman Reigns – SummerSlam 2014

Randy Orton has all the tools to be one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Much of the time, it doesn’t appear that is a priority for him but when he turns it on he can put on a great performance. In honour of that, these are ten Randy Orton matches you must see.

We kick off this list with a match that is much better than you might have thought it would be going in. Roman Reigns was not prepared to be a top singles star when he broke apart from the Shield in 2014 but he shined brightly against Orton at SummerSlam. Orton elevated Reigns on this night and they truly had a great match together. It is a wonder why they have not had another pay per view match since then as they worked together so well.

9. Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins – WrestleMania 31

If you want to watch two great pro-wrestlers have a great wrestling match, this match fits the bill. This was a perfect example of a match that was not designed to steal the show but still managed to be great. Randy Orton and Seth Rollins went on second and they had a perfectly executed match for their spot on the card.

This match is best remembered for its all-time great finish when Orton launched Rollins off his back into an RKO. It was fantastic and has been replayed many times in the years since but the rest of this match deserves credit as well.

8. Randy Orton vs. Chris Benoit – SummerSlam 2004

This match is increasingly difficult to watch as WWE has buried all mentions of Chris Benoit for good reason. However, it still stands as one of the best and most important matches of Orton’s career. At SummerSlam 2004 Orton captured his first World Heavyweight Championship by defeating Benoit in Toronto.

Their match was great despite Orton not being ready for the top spot. Benoit was one of the best workers of all time and Orton was a prodigy so it should not be a surprise that the match was as good as it was. They had some fun using a Sharpshooter as Earl Hebner was the referee but on the whole, this was as serious a match as you will see.
