4. A Returning Surprise Opponent
Perhaps the easiest solution that isn’t completely terrible would be to have Wardlow face a surprise opponent.
The key here is, it has to be someone the crowd isn’t expecting, so not just a ‘surprise’ in the sense that we don’t know who it is, but a ‘surprise’ in the sense that it’s a return, or something like that.
The two that come to mind are Brian Cage, who hasn’t been on AEW TV since October but was backstage this past week, or Miro, who hasn’t been on AEW TV since November, but has returned to the US after being in Europe for a while.
The Miro option would of course depend on whether he’s recovered from the hamstring injury which was the reason we haven’t seen him in the first place.
There is of course the question of whether you’d want someone to return just to lose.
