Tonight AEW celebrates Tag Team Wrestling with their ‘Tag Team Appreciation Night’ on Dynamite.
The company already has a load of incredible Tag Teams to their disposal, but in the world of Pro Wrestling there are still a lot of teams that would thrive on the big stage.
Not only would some encounters be certified dream matches, but the AEW Tag Team environment also allows them to shine brighter than they ever did before.
Which elite gems are out there right now for AEW to take advantage of? Let’s take a look.
5. Pretty Bastards (Prince Ahura & Maggot)
The team arrived in Germany’s westside Xtreme wrestling in 2017 and raised eyebrows quite quickly.
After their debut for the company, the tag team combination from Frankfurt won the prestigious wXw World Tag Team Festival in 2019, defeating the Arrows of Hungary as well as WWE NXT Tag Team Oney Lorcan and Dunny Burch in the finals.
They are still the wXw World Tag Team Champions as of this writing, only briefly dropping the belts earlier this year.
Prince Ahura and Maggot, who are also part of a stable alongside Norman Harras, NXT UK Star Oliver Carter, and wXw Unified World Wrestling Champion Bobby Gunns, are an absolute killer act, that shines via awesome story-telling as well as highly-entertaining in-ring action.
Yet to be tested on national tv, the duo would turn heads for sure.
4. Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado)
In Kalisto’s absence the duo of Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik said to be the best luchador in WWE right now (apart from Rey Mysterio of course), were able to receive more air-time on SmackDown.
However, stuck with a hindering gimmick and a tag division that almost does not exist, they will never reach their full potential.
Fellow luchadores Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr. on AEW TV served for one of the greatest matches in the history of the company, save to say Dorado and especially Metalik would thrive in an environment with fewer rules and more Lucha.
The two are currently feuding for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, if given some time, a wider audience may have the chance to finally see what they are really capable of.
