It was reported this week that people within NXT believe that WWE is interested in bringing Samoa Joe back to the black and gold brand as a wrestler, with reports even suggesting that Joe was at the Performance Center this week.
With NXT having one of the most stacked rosters in the world, and with many of the brand’s top wrestlers having not been there when Samoa Joe was champion, we’ve decided to compile a list of six dream matches that WWE needs to book for Samoa Joe in NXT.,
What are your thoughts on this piece, and do you think we’ve missed someone out? Let us know in the comments on Twitter or Facebook.
6. Johnny Gargano
On paper, a match between Samoa Joe and Johnny Gargano has the potential to steal the show, but the reason that we’ve put this match-up towards the end of this list is because it’s actually happened before.
The two former NXT Champions went one-on-one on an NXT TV taping in January 2016, but enough time has passed for there to be significant interest in seeing the two wrestlers go head-to-head once again.
The feud/match could work with either man being the babyface/heel, making this a great way for WWE to potentially even bring Samoa Joe back to the brand. Not to mention the in-ring product would be off the charts.
5. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott
Fans of WWE NXT are just beginning to see how talented Isaiah “Swerve” Scott is, and a match with Samoa Joe would be a great way for the former Shane Strickland to announce himself onto the NXT stage.
Don’t get it twisted, Swerve is one of the best wrestlers in the entire company, so a one-off match-up with Samoa Joe would allow him to show that to the NXT faithful who might not be as familiar with his stellar work on the independent scene.
There could also be money in a Swerve vs. Samoa Joe feud, especially considering how invested fans seem to be in the new Hit Row faction. A win over Samoa Joe could be exactly what Isaiah “Swerve” Scott needs to be rocketed to NXT main event scene.
