WWE is fast approaching the SummerSlam 2026 premium live event on August 1 & 2 from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

With the two-night event, there are a few different options that could headline either show with title matches and scores finally being settled.

SummerSlam is one of the biggest events of the year and promises to be another noteworthy evening this August.

Here are eight potential matches to main event WWE SummerSlam 2026.

8. Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi In A Retirement Match

Brock Lesnar handed Oba Femi his first main roster loss at WWE Clash in Italy

At WWE WrestleMania 42 Night Two, Oba Femi defeated Brock Lesnar. Post match, Lesnar decided to take off his gloves and boots, leaving them in the ring to signal his retirement.

However, Lesnar returned a month later to attack Femi and set up a showdown at WWE Clash In Italy 2026. “The Beast Incarnate” went on to defeat “The Ruler” in their rematch.

Despite being involved in the King of the Ring tournament, Femi has been focused on another battle with Lesnar.

Wanting to put an end to this rivalry as well as “The Beast,” Femi could have a third and final match with his rival with Brock’s career on the line in his hometown of Minneapolis at SummerSlam 2026.

7. Liv Morgan vs. IYO SKY – WWE Women’s World Championship

Liv Morgan successfully defended the WWE Women’s World Championship against IYO SKY at the December 2024 Saturday Night’s Main Event during her first reign as champion.

The Queen of the Ring tournament is currently underway and it is down to three.

On the June 19 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Charlotte Flair will face Liv Morgan in the Queen of the Ring Semifinals.

Meanwhile, IYO SKY defeated Raquel Rodriguez to advance to the Finals at WWE Night of Champions 2026.

SKY could beat Flair or even Morgan to win the Queen of the Ring crown and advance to WWE SummerSlam 2026 where she can challenge Liv for the WWE Women’s World Championship.

6. Cody Rhodes vs. Jey Uso – Undisputed WWE Championship

Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso were Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions together for nine days in October 2023.

Following WWE Clash In Italy 2026, Roman Reigns sent Jey Uso on the mission to win the King of the Ring tournament and the Undisputed WWE Championship to bring it to The Bloodline.

Uso has made it to the Semifinals of the tournament against Je’Von Evans scheduled for the June 19 episode of Friday Night SmackDown,

With a win over Evans, Uso might have an insurmountable obstacle to overcome in Oba Femi in the King of the Ring Finals at WWE Night of Champions 2026. However, Femi’s issues with Brock Lesnar might come back to haunt him.

This could open the door for Jey to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship to headline one of the nights of SummerSlam 2026 this year.

5. Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair – WWE Women’s Championship

Over the past few weeks, Rhea Ripley has been working with Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss against Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab on Friday Night SmackDown.

This is much different from their dynamic over the years that has seen Flair and Ripley feuding over championship gold. After two memorable bouts at WrestleMania 37 and 39, it would be fitting to see Rhea and Charlotte headline WWE SummerSlam 2026.

Flair currently finds herself in the Queen of the Ring Semifinals, which could lead to winning the tournament for the first time to earn a shot at a world title at SummerSlam in Minneapolis.

With these two stars working together as of late, it has set the stage for a totally different direction to go with Flair and Ripley’s story heading into “The Biggest Party of the Summer.”

4. Rhea Ripley vs. IYO SKY – WWE Women’s Championship

Another intriguing possibility to come out of this year’s Queen of the Ring is IYO SKY winning and deciding to challenge her best friend at WWE SummerSlam 2026.

In 2025, SKY and Rhea Ripley went from competitive rivals to tag team partners to WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions by the start of 2026.

RHIYO became one of the most popular duos in all of WWE, but they went their separate ways after Ripley won the WWE Women’s Championship from Jade Cargill at WrestleMania 42.

With Ripley now on top of the SmackDown women’s division, it would set up an extremely interesting main event for WWE SummerSlam 2026 with IYO trying to take down her best friend and win the world title for the first time in over a year.

3. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins – World Heavyweight Championship

Since his return to WWE at the start of 2026, Seth Rollins has made it clear that he wants to get his hands back on the World Heavyweight Championship that he never lost.

Considering his history with the champion, Rollins has been hinting at a potential showdown with Roman Reigns as of late.

Prior to his shoulder injury in October 2025, there were rumors that Rollins vs. Reigns was discussed as a potential WrestleMania 42 main event, so it would make sense if they deliver that bout at the next major premium live event.

After completing his feud with Bron Breakker and The Vision, Rollins could firmly focus on dethroning “The OTC” and taking back a title that he has become synonymous with at WWE SummerSlam 2026.

2. Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk – Undisputed WWE Championship

Fans have been wondering what is next for CM Punk following his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42.

On the April 20 WWE Raw After Mania, Punk was confronted by Cody Rhodes with the two friends teasing a potential matchup in the future.

Amidst his absence since then, recent reports have indicated that Punk might make his return to the Friday Night SmackDown brand.

Wanting to deliver one of the biggest matches of the year at this event, Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Punk fits the bill and would be a worthy main event to SummerSlam 2026 in Minneapolis.

1. Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi – World Heavyweight Championship

After defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, Oba Femi did not waste any time before calling out Roman Reigns on the post-show.

Despite his feud with Lesnar continuing, Femi has another major goal and that sees him in the King of the Ring Finals at WWE Night of Champions 2026.

Considering his opposition will either be Je’Von Evans or Jey Uso, “The Ruler” feels like the favorite to win the King of the Ring and move on to challenge “The OTC” for the World Heavyweight Championship.

In what would feel like the meteoric rise that his rival Brock had in 2002, Femi could find himself at the mountaintop against Reigns in the match that closes out WWE SummerSlam 2026 weekend.
