During his time working for WrestleTalk.com he has written and published over 4,000 news and feature articles covering events and happenings from WWE, AEW, TNA and a variety of international and independent wrestling promotions.

Matt Hardy has reacted to the news of Tommy Dreamer’s departure from TNA Wrestling, with the veteran pitching former WWE writer Nick Manfredini as someone the company should look at bringing in.

Earlier today (June 17), TNA Wrestling head of creative Tommy Dreamer announced that he and TNA had “mutually agreed to part ways.”

This brings Dreamer’s seven year stint in TNA’s creative setup to an end, with the ECW legend also having stints as an active wrestler in the promotion as far back as June 2010.

It has been reported by PWInsider that Delirious (Hunter Johnston) is set to take over as TNA’s creative head following Dreamer’s exit, with it also being possible that other names could also be brought on board.

Reacting to the news as it broke, TNA’s Matt Hardy discussed Dreamer’s exit during the latest episode of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, with the former TNA World Tag Team Champion full of praise for Dreamer:

“It’s interesting, it’s intriguing. I certainly enjoyed working with Tommy. I enjoyed working with Tommy all the way back to the House of Hardcore days, whenever he was doing that show.

“I always thought he had a good pulse on kind of where pro wrestling is and where it’s going and he stayed pretty current with things, but you know, things change.

“I got lots of love for Tommy, no doubt about it, I loved working with Tommy, really enjoyable working with Tommy. Very interesting to see what happens next now in TNA.”

Continuing on the topic, Hardy was asked whether he thinks Dreamer got an unfair reputation during his time as TNA’s head of creative, to which he responded:

“I think so. I think it has been a little unfair, no doubt. I had said that earlier today, him and Delirious, obviously quite overworked. They’re very busy because there’s only two guys doing that.

“But I think he has done a lot of good for TNA and I’m very curious to hear the motivation behind all this, why he is stepping away.”

Hardy was then asked if there’s anyone he would look to bring into TNA in a creative capacity going forward, with Matt naming former WWE writer Nick Manfredini – who he worked with closely during his time teaming with Bray Wyatt in WWE.

Hardy continued:

“I would bring in Nick (Manfredini) who worked with myself and Bray back in WWE. I felt like he was really layered in the way he could do stuff because if he was doing something that was (with) characters, that were like novelty characters like myself and Bray were, he knew how to treat us as special or different.

“If there’s something in a supernatural aspect (that) you’re trying to get out of these two characters, he knew how to utilize them… He also was very good at utilizing characters who were legit wrestlers who go in the ring and wrestle and do that.

“He had an understanding I felt of all the different characters and how to enhance their character to its maximum, and I felt like even if they were a regular – go in the ring ‘I’m the best wrestler in the world’ – he would enhance that character still as good as he could. He’s the guy I would suggest.”
