AEW
Having returned to the ring earlier this year, Thunder Rosa has opened up on the current stage of her AEW career, calling it “a blessing”.
Thunder Rosa was sidelined for around seven months following the Women’s Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In: Texas, which took place in July of last year.
With February seeing her in-ring return on AEW Dynamite, the star reflected on believing her career was ‘probably’ over during her absence.
Now enjoying a double contract with AEW and CMLL, the star looked at her current career during a recent interview.
Speaking to Houston Life, Thunder Rosa looked at where she currently is, calling it a “blessing” while also reflecting on the journey she has taken to get there, saying:
“I’ve been in the business for thirteen years to fourteen and my tenacity has allowed me to continue to be a top wrestler in my company.
“I just recently came back, well… a couple of months, but it took me eight months to recover. It was one of those injuries where I thought I wasn’t going to come back.
“So, for now, in this phase of my career in this phase of AEW, for me, it’s a blessing to be in the ring, because I don’t know when this journey’s gonna stop.
“Our life is not given. I take every day like it’s my last day. It’s been such a journey.

Thunder Rosa was last in action in AEW on the May 20 episode of Dynamite, teaming with Mina Shirakawa and The Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor & Jamie Hayter) in a losing effort to Athena & Triangle of Madness (Thekla, Skye Blue & Julia Hart).
More recently, she has competed in CMLL with her last match being a victory over Reyna Isis at Domingo Familiar on June 14.
Dual Contracts Offer The Best Of Both Worlds
Thunder Rosa benefiting from a dual contract with AEW and CMLL puts her in the company of Hechihero, Mascara Dorado and Persephone when it comes to working with partner promotions. They’re not the only ones, either, with Claudio Castagnoli also having a dual contract with the Mexican promotion, while Konosuke Takeshita goes one further with a triple contract with AEW, NJPW and DDT Pro-Wrestling, the latter two in Japan.
While AEW stars can continue to perform on the independent wrestling scene, the benefit of the contract is that they are signed to a particular company, seeing all the upsides of whatever the deal itself offers. It also gives the promoters a feel for the commitment of the star in question, knowing that they’ll be available under the terms of the contract and much less likely, in theory, to be pulled at the last minute.
For AEW, it likely bolsters the partnership with the other promotion, with Tony Khan having fostered relationship with the likes of CMLL and New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Seeing his stars able to grow their reputation in major promotions on the international independent circuit has to be a positive for the man in charge of All Elite Wrestling.
Beyond that, there’s always the chance that, for an AEW star under a multi-promotion contract, a feud could lead to exposure for the opponent on Dynamite, Collision or ROH, giving Khan even greater opportunity to explore the world beyond his door, Forbidden or otherwise.
