AEW’s Kris Statlander has revealed that she got her scars from last year’s Women’s Blood & Guts match tattooed on her back.

AEW held it’s first Women’s Blood & Guts match last year, with Mercedes Mone, Marina Shafir, Megan Bayne and the Triangle of Madness defeat Willow Nightingale, Kris Statlander, Jamie Hayter, Toni Storm, Mina Shirakawa and Harley Cameron.

During the match, Statlander would take a bodyslam onto a bed of nails at the hands of Marina Shafir outside of the ring in one of several brutal spots in the match.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Statlander was asked if she had taken part in any ribs backstage, with her noting that she got the scars from Blood & Guts tattooed on her back, which often ends up fooling the AEW medical staff whenever they check on her.

She said:

“My scars I got from taking the bed of nails at Blood and Guts, I got those scars tattooed on my back in red so it always looks fresh.

“Everytime I go to the medical room to get my back worked on and they see them, they always think it’s like a fresh cut and are like ‘I can’t work on your back’, then like ‘oh wait it’s a tattoo’.”

More First Times For AEW’s Women’s Division?

With the AEW Women’s division experiencing a number of first times over the past year, including the introduction of Women’s Tag Team Championship and the first Women’s Blood & Guts match, there are more potential first times we could see happen for the division soon.

While the Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments are currently ongoing, including a women’s tournament, many fans have long pitched for the women to get their own version of the Continental Classic Tournament, which the men get every year from November until Worlds End.

As well as a Continental Classic, AEW’s women’s division are yet to main event a pay-per-view event, with a number of potential options now available for them to do so.

Should Mercedes Mone walk out of All In London as AEW Women’s World Championship, the eventual clash between herself and Willow Nightingale for the World Championship should be a consideration to main event whichever pay-per-view it ends up happening on.
