Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has revealed his plans for a ‘full gimmick’ funeral with wrestlers showing up in their character.
Over the past few years, Cody Rhodes has established himself as the American Nightmare, with him even getting his American Nightmare logo tattooed on his neck.
Cody has been committed to the wrestling industry for 20 years, and he has now revealed how he wants that dedication to follow him to the grave.
Cody Rhodes Reveals Plans For ‘Full Gimmick’ Funeral
Speaking on Grave Conversations, Cody spoke about how he wants a ‘full gimmick’ funeral, complete with wrestlers showing up in character akin to the Identity Crisis DC comic.
He said:
“I don’t know if you ever read this graphic novel, I consider it my favorite DC graphic novel of all time, a book called Identity Crisis. Identity Crisis has one of the greatest funeral scenes of all time, because all of them showed up in gimmick. Full gear.
“When my time comes, I want the wrestling world in full gimmick. Bury me in the American Nightmare Sandra Grey robe, bury me as I was. I spent so much time giving back to pro wrestling and taking from pro wrestling that I got to play a superhero, and I’d like to go out a superhero.”

Will Cody Rhodes Lose WWE Championship Before SummerSlam?
With WWE SummerSlam now just around the corner, there has been a lot of speculation about who Cody could end up defending the WWE Championship against on the show.
Cody is set to defend the title against Gunther on this week’s episode of SmackDown, with Sami Zayn serving as the special referee, leading to the possibility of Cody dropping the title to Gunther.
Along with SmackDown, Cody is also advertised for the WWE Night of Champions event in Saudi Arabia next weekend, which could also be a place for him to drop the title, potentially in a three-way with Gunther and Sami Zayn.
Cody chasing the title would be a good way to shake up the top end of the SmackDown roster, but it seems unlikely that will happen, especially with CM Punk reportedly set to return to the SmackDown brand soon
