8 Sting Matches To Watch On The WWE Network

Sting vs. Big Van Vader – WCW SuperBrawl III

The Sting vs. Vader feud continued at SuperBrawl III. The main event of this show featured a White Castle of Fear Strap match.

Dave Meltzer called this the best strap match he had ever seen at the time and gave the match 4.25 Stars. Vader defeated Sting in this particular match.  It’s definitely one worth watching.

Sting vs. Cactus Jack – WCW Beach Blast 1992

This match was one of my personal favorites and my first real introduction to what Cactus Jack brought to the table. This match earned 4.5 stars from Dave Meltzer.

My favorite line from the Observer: “Cactus Jack has a lot of guts but you simply can’t do matches like this very often and enjoy a lengthy career.” Apparently, Jack’s guts allowed him to have a lot of matches like this over his career.  Sting picks up the win in a very hardcore match for its time.

Sting vs Ric Flair –  NWA StarrCade 1989

StarrCade featured the Iron Man tournament featuring Sting, Ric Flair, The Great Muta, and Lex Luger. The main event of the night was Sting vs. Flair. The winner would win the tournament.

Sting rolled up Flair and won the Iron Man tournament. This would lead to Sting joining The Horsemen, but ultimately being turned on by the heel group. This match would get 4.25 stars from Meltzer.

Sting and Lex Luger vs Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner – WCW SuperBrawl I 1991

Sting and Luger entered the event as Tag Team Champions. They would ultimately lose the titles to The Steiners. Luger and Sting were on-again, off-again tag team partners.

The match got 4.5 stars from Meltzer.  You can also check out Kevin Nash as Oz on the show.

I hope you liked a trip to the late 80’s and early 90’s from WCW. While WCW certainly had some crap shows and angles, Sting had some gems to watch during that time.

This time of wrestling is my go-to for binge-watching on the Network when I am completely bored.  Hope you enjoy.
