WWE stars to return to NXT: Three absent names who could be nearing a comeback

After plenty of key departures post-WrestleMania 42, WWE NXT has once again bounced back and re-established itself with a strong roster of experienced names and rising talent.

While the roster has no shortage of talent, there are a number of names missing from the fold who could add to its depth.

Here are three absent names who could soon be returning to WWE NXT.

Josh Briggs

Josh Briggs hasn’t been seen inside a WWE NXT ring since April, when he lost to Keanu Carver in a three-way also involving now former WWE star Jasper Troy.

While this lengthy absence has led to questions regarding Briggs status and future in WWE, fans of the former NXT UK Tag Team Champion were pleased to see that he returned to action prior to the September 21 episode of WWE Raw; wrestling Big Cass in a match taped for an upcoming episode of WWE Main Event.

This certainly doesn’t guarantee that he’s set for a return to NXT, but him being used in some fashion is at least a positive sign. Being one NXT’s most tenured names, Briggs should be featured on TV, even if it’s just to elevate newer talent on the roster.

Elio LeFleur

After making his debut in WWE NXT at the start of the year, Elio LeFleur unfortunately saw his momentum quickly derailed by injury when he suffered a torn labrum and significant ligament damage to his shoulder during a live event in March.

With a recovery timeline of around six months given at the time, LeFleur should hopefully be nearing comeback soon providing he is still on schedule.

The former WWE Speed Champion would feel like a brand new signing given how quickly he was taken off TV, and would make for an excellent future challenger for Jackson Drake’s NXT North American Championship.

Enzo Amore

Unlike our first two entries, Enzo Amore is not, as far as we know, officially signed with WWE, although that was reported to be in the works earlier this year.

Prior to Big Cass’ arrival, Amore was spotted at the WWE Performance Center and was said to be due to return to NXT, rather than the main roster.

While this would have been a questionable decision given his past popularity on WWE Raw, it would have perhaps been done so WWE could try and establish Cass as a singles star first, although that is pure speculation.

With Cass not quite finding his feet on his own thus far since returning to Raw, WWE should get him reunited with Enzo as soon as possible. But, if we’re going off the aforementioned report about Enzo joining NXT, perhaps there’s a chance we still see the former Crusierweight Champion return to where he began his pro wrestling journey over a decade ago.
