Classic WWE Characters To Be Re-Cast

WWE could be looking to the past to find their next big thing, potentially re-casting some classic WWE characters.

Rather than directly re-casted, bringing back familiar gimmicks with a modern twist on the classic and beloved characters of the 1980s and 1990s could create a lot of fun possibilities.

Here are five classic WWE characters that could be re-cast in 2026.

5. The Repo Man

The original iteration of The Repo Man character was played by Barry Darsow (Smash) after the end of the Demolition tag team.

Repackaged in 1991 as a conniving and ruthless thief, Darsow had dropped so much weight that some fans didn’t make the connection at first.

Of course in a modern context, the concept of The Repo Man could end up in plenty of wacky antics from taking ownership of the Hausenmobile, to cutting off Dominik Mysterio‘s chicken nugget supply from catering.

Taking it a step further, different WWE stars could find digital spaces invaded by The Repo Man with the character liable to take possession of social media accounts or even blocking access to pyro or theme music, with them instead being replaced by notice of repossession.

4. Ultimate Warrior

One of the more interesting stories in professional wrestling intellectual property disputes is that between WWE and The Ultimate Warrior.

The original ‘Ultimate Warrior’ James Hellwig legally changed his first and last name to Warrior in order to continue to appear outside of the company under the moniker after his depature.

After the WWE Hall of Famer passed away shortly after his 2014 induction, the Ultimate Warrior name and likeness became owned by Hellwig’s estate.

While a return of the full “Ultimate Warrior” character seems unlikely, it doesn’t mean there couldn’t be a new iteration that pays homage with a unique and colorful look that brings the vintage gimmick to life in a new era.

3. The Undertaker

While there certainly will never be another Undertaker, there could be a return of the spookier elements of the WWE legend’s in-ring persona.

Before there are any accusations of blasphemy, this is not a suggestion of a direct copy of The Undertaker character as much as a potential to incorporate a mysterious and spooky character.

However, bringing together more gothic or horror themed elements of the original Undertaker character could be an incredible throwback for a brand new star.

With NXT’s Shiloh Hill certainly seeming to fit the bill as a character that could see lore built online as almost a sandbox for what elements are intriguing, there could be a major future for the WWE LFG Season 2 winner on the main roster.

2. Tiger Jackson

While his appearances were limited in number, the character of Tiger Jackson made an impact.

Portrayed by Claude Giroux, the role served as an introduction to WWE fans in the 80s before switching characters in 1991 to become sidekick to Doink the Clown, Dink.

While at times in WWE’s history there may have been less opportunities for athletes of small stature, there has been a recent resurgence in appearances on TV by notable names from Micro Wrestling and beyond.

From Dominik Mysterio resurrecting the trope of “Mini Cena” portrayed by indie wrestler Syko to Danhausen incorporating the Minihausens and even managing to sneak in comedian Brad Williams into his SummerSlam 2026 entrance – the next star could be just around the corner.

1. The Million Dollar Man

With Ted DiBiase portraying the original character, a symbol of the excess of the time and the chase for wealth in addition to power, a modern equivalent could be easy to mold.

Bringing together a character who not only flaunts their wealth but makes a point of over the top designer clothes, vignettes featuring sports cars and dining in luxury establishments – the groundwork is laid.

Adding new levels of modern obnoxiousness to the classic trope, the latest iteration of The Million Dollar Man could definitely put their own spin on it.

Potentially being most effectively rebooted by a female WWE star, the Million Dollar Woman could take over the roster.
