7. Hulk Hogan vs. Sid Justice – WrestleMania VIII

How did this match even happen, let alone headline WrestleMania 8?

Former WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair came into WWE at the tailend of 1991 and looked to be destined to face Hulk Hogan for the top prize at Mania.

However, low ticket sales on house shows apparently led WWE to go in a different direction.

Flair won the 1992 Royal Rumble Match to win the WWF Championship and faced Macho Man Randy Savage at the event, while Hogan faced Sid Justice after the latter cost him the Rumble.

The Hogan vs. Sid match was billed as the Hulkster’s retirement match with him taking time off after, but it was slow, plodding and felt out of place as the headliner.

Add on the botched finish with Papa Shango missing his cue thus Sid had to kick out of Hogan’s leg drop finisher and then was disqualified anyway, you have a complete mess of a main event.
