AEW
The AEW Forbidden Door 2026 pay-per-view is shaping up to be another stellar major event for All Elite Wrestling and their partnered promotions.
One thing that has been criticized about the leadup to the show is the lack of stars from the companies like New Japan Pro Wrestling, STARDOM and CMLL.
With that in mind, fans could see some notable matches being added to the lineup in these final days ahead of the huge show from San Jose, California.
Here are seven final matches to be potentially added to AEW Forbidden Door 2026.
AEW National Championship: Mark Davis (c) vs. Templario

Templario is currently a member of the United Empire faction of which Mark Davis was a former member
The Don Callis Family will be part of the triple main event for AEW Forbidden Door 2026 as Kyle Fletcher, Andrade El Idolo, Jake Doyle and Kazuchika Okada will team with AEW World Champion MJF against Team Mark Briscoe in a Steel Cage match.
Conspicuous by his absence was none other than AEW National Champion Mark Davis, who would usually be part of this kind of bout.
Davis has been making his mark in All Elite Wrestling in recent months, especially after capturing the AEW National Championship in May.
Wanting to have more outside involvement on AEW Forbidden Door 2026, Davis could defend his title against CMLL’s own Templario in a clash of styles that might be able to stand out on this show.
‘Jungle’ Jack Perry vs Ren Narita

Jack Perry was part of the House of Torture during his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling last year
Back in 2024 and 2025, ‘Jungle’ Jack Perry took an excursion to New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Embracing his ‘Scapegoat’ persona, Perry aligned himself with EVIL (now known as Naraku in WWE NXT) and the House of Torture in NJPW.
However, Perry went on to reunite with The Elite not too long after his return to AEW in 2025.
Now that he has turned his back on one of the top NJPW stables, Ren Narita could make his way to AEW to represent HoT against Perry in a special singles match on the Forbidden Door 2026 show in San Jose.
IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship: YOH (c) vs. Speedball Mike Bailey

Speedball Mike Bailey has previously been part of the Best of the Super Juniors Tournament, which was just won by YOH
The IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship has once again been revived after YOH defeated DOUKI to win the gold at the NJPW Dominion 2026 event.
With his overwhelming popularity, YOH’s win garnered a lot of positive reactions around the wrestling world.
Considering AEW Forbidden Door 2026 needs more NJPW talent on the card, YOH should get the call to bring the Jr. Title for the show.
Looking at the AEW roster, Speedball Mike Bailey is someone who has competed in the Best of Super Juniors tournament in the past and could make for a formidable opponent for YOH for the title on this pay-per-view.
CMLL Women’s World Championship: Persephone (c) vs. Skye Blue vs. Hazuki

Persephone, Skye Blue and Hazuki were all unsuccessful in winning this year’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament
Persephone is one of the CMLL stars who has signed a dual contract with All Elite Wrestling.
After coming up short in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, Persephone could still find herself in a prominent spot on the AEW Forbidden Door 2026 card.
Since she holds the CMLL Women’s World Title, it would make sense if Persephone faces some top talent from AEW and STARDOM.
Persephone defending against a member of Triangle of Madness in Skye Blue and someone who owns a victory over her in Hazuki would make for a compelling three-way bout for the top prize in the CMLL women’s division at AEW Forbidden Door 2026.
IWGP Women’s Championship: Syuri (c) vs. Mina Shirakawa

Mina Shirakawa has come up short in all of her championship matches in her AEW career
There is plenty of other women’s gold that could be defended come the AEW Forbidden Door 2026 pay-per-view.
Syuri recently visited Ring of Honor to challenge Athena for the ROH Women’s World Championship at Global Wars: Cincinnati.
While she came up short, Syuri could have showcased why she is one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world again.
Syuri being invited to AEW Forbidden Door 2026 to defend the IWGP Women’s Championship against AEW‘s own Mina Shirakawa would be very interesting considering their history together in STARDOM.
ROH Women’s World Championship: Athena (c) vs. Saya Kamitani

Athena unsuccessfully challenged Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship at last year’s Forbidden Door event
Over the course of the past three years, Athena has never backed down from any challengers during her historic ROH Women’s World Title reign.
‘The Fallen Goddess’ has proven herself to be one of the very best wrestlers in the world today.
Another star who has done the same thing in Japan is former World of Stardom Champion Saya Kamitani.
After recently making her North American debut for MLW, Kamitani could make a visit All Elite Wrestling to take part in Forbidden Door 2026 by challenging Athena for the top prize in Ring of Honor on the show.
IWGP Tag Team Championship: United Empire (HENARE & Great O Khan) (c) vs. The Knockout Brothers (Yuto-Ice & OSKAR) vs. Don Callis Family (Volador Jr. & Hechicero) vs. The Rascalz (Zachary Wentz & Dezmond Xavier)

Henare and Great-O-Khan issued a Forbidden Door challenge following their IWGP Tag Team Championship victory
At AEW Forbidden Door 2026, Shota Umino will defend the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship against PAC of The Death Riders.
This shouldn’t be the only New Japan title up for grabs on this joint promotional event considering the fact that all these companies could highlight more talent.
At NJPW Dominion 2026, United Empire’s HENARE and Great O Khan defeated The Knockout Brothers to win the IWGP Tag Team Championship.
Wanting to put a bigger spotlight on tag team wrestling at Forbidden Door, United Empire could defend their newly won gold against three duos from the other promotions with NJPW’s KOB, CMLL’s Volador Jr. & Hechicero, and AEW’s The Rascalz.
