How WWE SHOULD Have Booked Evolution

Although WWE’s self-congratulatory posturing about how they are breaking down walls with all-women’s pay-per-view Evolution feels more than a little hollow in light of their decision to return to Saudi Arabia five days later, that it exists at all is undoubtedly a positive.

When the show was announced, mother hen of the Women’s Revolution, Stephanie McMahon, declared that over 50 women from all of WWE’s rosters would be involved, with titles defended from Raw, SmackDown, NXT and NXT UK.

Fans began to put together cards in their heads, making sense of WWE’s booking and explaining some of it away as “Oh, they must be saving it for Evolution“.

As the card has unfolded in the last couple of weeks, almost lost amidst the craziness of a schedule that has seen Super Show-Down, SmackDown 1000, the launch of NXT UK, the Mae Young Classic, and promotion for Crown Jewel, there is a definite sense of disappointment surrounding the Evolution line-up.

Many of the matches are underwhelming, have been overdone or are downright unappealing. What should be a celebration of women’s wrestling looks set to be little more than a glorified episode of Raw.

We take a look at what Evolution could and should have been, retaining as much WWE logic and storyline threads as possible to make it realistic.
