Kofi first time AEW opponents: Who will face the former WWE Champion next?

WWE

On the October 3 edition of AEW Collision, Kofi made his AEW in-ring debut with a win over Lee Moriarty.

Thanks to this victory, one half of The New Level will challenge Bandido for the ROH World Title at AEW Grand Slam France.

Now that he is back in singles competition, this may open the door for some first AEW opponents to step to the former WWE Champion.

Here are four potential first time AEW opponents for Kofi.

Kevin Knight

There is no denying that Kevin Knight is one of the fastest rising stars in AEW today.

“The Jet” is a former TNT Champion and two-time AEW World Trios Champion.

Looking at his in-ring style and what he can do in the ring, it is easy to see that Knight was inspired by the career of Kofi.

Stepping in the ring with The New Level member, Knight could show that the student has become the teacher against Kofi down the road.

Orange Cassidy

Throughout his time in AEW, Orange Cassidy has displayed what makes him such a unique performer.

Back on the September 9 Rebel Heart edition of AEW Dynamite, Swerve Strickland and The New Level defeated The Conglomeration to retain the AEW World Trios Championships.

This marked the first time that Cassidy was in the ring with Kofi in both men’s careers.

After this experience and with the new attitude on display for The Conglomeration, Kofi could lock horns with a different OC when the time is right.

Will Ospreay

Ahead of The New Level arriving in All Elite Wrestling, Will Ospreay went on record to explain why Kofi would be a dream opponent for him.

“The Aerial Assassin” has made it clear that Kofi is someone he has always looked up to.

Now that the former WWE Champion is in AEW, it might be the right time for him to finally go one-on-one with Ospreay.

Considering his status as the AEW World Champion, facing Kofi could make for a formidable test in this reign for Ospreay down the line.

Kenny Omega

Another individual who has stated that he has been a fan of Kofi’s work is Kenny Omega.

The Elite and The New Level have been connected to one another for years due to their cross promotional interactions in the gaming world.

While many fans want to see him in the ring with Austin Creed, Omega could check Kofi off of his bucket list in singles competition as well.

With everything he has accomplished in Japan and AEW, Omega could prove to be one of the biggest opponents Kofi may possibly face in his new home promotion.
