Will we ever see Ludwig Kaiser in WWE again after the success of El Grande Americano?

The rise of El Grande Americano has truly been one of the biggest stories in all of wrestling – not just WWE – over the past year.

What started as a joke gimmick with Chad Gable became Ludwig Kaiser’s masterpiece as he took over the Americano character and won over the fans in Mexico with his dedication to their culture.

Kaiser has been in two of the biggest matches of the year in 2026, defeating Gable in the mask vs mask match at Noche De Los Grandes, and just earlier this month, defeating Dominik Mysterio to become AAA Mega Champion.

Ludwig Kaiser always excelled in his role as the right hand man for GUNTHER, but it was clear he was capable of more than that, and in 2024, we saw glimpses as he was around the Intercontinental Championship picture with names like Sheamus and Bron Breakker.

Now, he’s achieving success under a mask, but will we ever see him back as his original self?

Mexico’s newest hero

Right now, there is absolutely no reason to mess with a winning formula, because this isn’t just one individual’s success – it’s the success of an entire product.

El Grande Americano has been a phenomenon that has propelled the overall AAA brand that WWE acquired last year, turning it into something that draws millions of viewers for its big events.

With the way the new WWE management regime looks at business, there’s next to no chance they would rush into something that would affect AAA’s momentum as much as messing with El Grande Americano would.

WWE does have other major Mexican stars, namely Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio and Penta, as well as others waiting to come up to that level like Rey Fenix and Dragon Lee, but Americano right now surpasses even those very top names.

And it’s not just El Grande Americano, but Los Americanos – Rayo and Bravo – who have captured the hearts of Mexican fans in the same way, giving English duo Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate a new lease on life as their place on the WWE roster seemed to have become suboptimal.

All three of them are in a better position than they were before taking on the Americano characters, and you have to question whether they would succeed in WWE if they reverted back to their unmasked selves.

In Kaiser’s case, the answer is quite possibly, especially if the story of his unmasking became a big focal point.

How exactly would WWE unmask El Grande Americano?

Whether it be something he’s forced to do or something he chooses to do as a heel turn, the headlines made by his unmasking could help to propel him further not just in the AAA environment but on the mainline WWE television product as well.

There’s plenty of history to go into with GUNTHER that could tie in to an unmasking as well, and a potential major main event rivalry between a top heel and a top babyface if WWE could commit to pulling it off and putting its faith in the pair.

A match between them could come with the stipulation that if GUNTHER wins, Americano has to unmask – thus keeping Kaiser a babyface afterwards and allowing him to continue from there.

The alternative would be for Kaiser to turn on the people of Mexico, and become an ultimate villain, and a target for whoever the new favorite of the AAA crowd is at that point.

That would probably be the most WWE way to do things, but again, the company would have to assess whether that’s the right thing to do in the Mexican market.

All in all, chances are we will see Ludwig Kaiser back in WWE some day in his unmasked form, but there is absolutely no rush and it needs to be a big deal when it does happen.
