WWE
2025 and 2026 has been a pair of years defined by iconic stars retiring from in-ring competition for WWE.
From John Cena and AJ Styles to Brock Lesnar and now Asuka, these talents have seemingly closed out their legendary careers before the fans’ eyes.
Looking at the current WWE roster, there are a number of different names who could be winding things down in their own career before a retirement in the months to come.
Here are eight more WWE stars to potentially retire after Asuka.
8. Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio is a bonafide legend in every possible way and one of the longest tenured stars on the WWE roster.
The WWE Hall of Famer is still performing among the best in the industry today even after 37 years in the business.
At 51 years old and with plenty of injuries under his belt, it feels like Mysterio is winding down his time inside the squared circle.
With everything he has accomplished and how long he’s been at it, Mysterio retiring sometime soon feels inevitable at this point.
7. R-Truth
In 2025, R-Truth looked like he was going to end his run in WWE after his contract expired.
However, thanks to the fans and his peers, Truth was re-signed and brought back to the company after less than a week away.
Now a year later, Truth is one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions with Damian Priest on Friday Night SmackDown.
While he is currently a champion, Truth is also 54 years old and probably has just a year or two ahead of him before calling it quits once and for all.
6. Sheamus
Sheamus is another WWE star who has been piling up the injuries over the past few years.
In November 2025, “The Celtic Warrior” was sidelined with a serious shoulder injury that required surgery.
After being sidelined for over six months, Sheamus could be on his way back and will look to have one more run in WWE.
At age 48, Sheamus has more years behind him than in front of him and could be winding down his legendary run in the company sometime soon.
5. Nattie
In 2026, Natalya finally became Nattie in WWE after introducing her “Lowkey Legend” character in the company for the first time.
A year prior, Nattie started to change up her look and intensity inside the squared circle outside of WWE.
Nattie now embracing her new style and persona has not resulted in an increased role on WWE television as of late.
With more than 25 years in the business and 18 years in WWE, it would make sense if Nattie wanted to finish her time in the ring in the near future.
4. Shinsuke Nakamura
Signing with WWE in 2016, Shinsuke Nakamura has showcased what made him an absolute superstar in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Throughout a decade in the promotion, “The King of Strong Style” is a three-time WWE United States Champion, two-time Intercontinental Champion, two-time NXT Champion and the 2018 Men’s Royal Rumble winner.
Over the past year, Nakamura has watched some of his greatest rivals and opponents retire, such as Hiroshi Tanahashi, AJ Styles and John Cena.
Nakamura deciding to retire would make a ton of sense after everything he has accomplished throughout his career and being at the age of 46.
3. Randy Orton
Someone else who has seen many of his greatest rivals retire in the past few years is Randy Orton.
“The Viper” is still among the biggest stars in WWE today and just came off of headlining WrestleMania in 2026.
Now on the quest for his 15th world title, it feels like Orton still has plenty of time inside the squared circle ahead of him.
Considering his age, over 24 years in WWE and the injuries he has come back from, Orton could be contemplating when it is his time to call it a career.
2. Becky Lynch
Becky Lynch has earned the moniker as one of the greatest women’s wrestlers in WWE history.
“The Man” is still going strong in the company after signing 13 years ago and is the current WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion.
However, Lynch revealed that she had re-signed what she called “the final contract” of her career.
Lynch finally deciding to retire at the end of this current deal would make a ton of sense with her legacy already intact and knowing she left the company in a better place than how she came in.
1. CM Punk
When he came back into the pro wrestling business, most fans knew that CM Punk did not have a ton of years ahead of him.
After a lengthy hiatus, Punk has made an instant impact across All Elite Wrestling and WWE over the past five years.
“The Best In The World” is now among the top stars in WWE and has already accomplished goals he wasn’t able to during his first stint with the promotion.
Punk retiring should be treated as a big deal and will leave many fans missing him long after he is gone.
