WWE Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan has recalled suffering a hematoma injury ahead of her championship match at WrestleMania 42.

Liv Morgan won the Women’s World Title in the penultimate match of WrestleMania 42 Night One, with the Royal Rumble winner defeating Stephanie Vaquer to become champion.

There was some uncertainty surrounding this match happening following Morgan and Roxanne Perez colliding heads in a backstage segment on the April 6 Raw episode, which Morgan has now talked about.

Speaking with of Gino Salomone of watchginotv, Liv Morgan recalled suffering the injury, and then going on to win championship gold, stating:

“I pretty much was having a meeting with my little prodigy, Roxanne Perez, in the Judgment Day clubhouse. No one gets access to the clubhouse unless you’re in the Judgment Day.

“Stephanie Vaquer – my WrestleMania opponent whom I defeated at WrestleMania because I’m so much better than her – snuck into the clubhouse. She shoved me from behind, which was what she was doing my whole entire feud with her, she was just attacking me from behind.

“I bashed heads with my poor little Roxy, had a hematoma which was huge on my head. All the blood drained down to my face and I had two black eyes. So, I won at WrestleMania with a giant hematoma on my head, and two black eyes. It’s kind of iconic.”

Despite recently testing the waters in singing and acting, Liv Morgan doesn’t look to be leaving pro-wrestling anytime soon, also saying during the interview that she plans to wrestle until the wheels fall off.

Despite previously holding the Women’s World Championship – and even becoming the inaugural Women’s Crown Jewel Champion during her reign in 2024 – WWE was heavily pushing the fact that Morgan is “no longer the bridesmaid” following her latest title win.

WWE’s treatment of Morgan’s Women’s World Title win at WrestleMania would lead fans to believe that the company has something special planned for her reign, we’ll have to wait and see how significant her stint with the gold ends up being.
