Jay White defeated Togi Makabe in a serviceable brawl.
White went in straight away with chops like the saucy bugger he is. Of course, this was Togi Makabe, so he was having none of this nonsense. He took White to the outside and tossed him into the barricade, but this proved to be a bad choice, as White took advantage and got some tosses in of his own. White slammed Makabe back and forth between the apron and the English announce table (much to Rocky Romero and Kevin Kelly’s chagrin). Just before the 20 count, White dragged Makabe into the ring and taunted him. Once again, Makabe showed this young rapscallion the error of his thinking and regained control with a powerslam.
Makabe followed a clothesline into the corner with the 10-punch spot before hitting a running Jay White with a lariat. Kelly noted that White had “fallen into Makabe’s trap” of fighting his match. However, White was able to adapt as he chopped at Makabe’s limbs and regained advantage. An elbow to the face was followed by several chops to Makabe’s chest, which he welcomed. Makabe got to his feet and asked for more punishment. White hit two running lariats which didn’t move Makabe, and the two had a back and forth of withstanding each others’ clotheslines.
Makabe got white onto the top turnbuckle attempting a suplex. White tried to block it, but Makabe was able to toss him off and prepare a King Kong knee drop. But it was to no avail as White used the referee as a shield, forcing Makabe down. However, Makabe gave White a lariat and powerslam for his troubles. He ascended to the top turnbuckle again and went for the knee drop, but Switchblade rolled forward.
On the outside, White retrieved two folding chairs from under the ring. The referee was distracted for multiple chair shots which affected both men. But White was able to capitalize and hit the Blade Runner for the three.
Jay White now stands at 12 points, inching ever closer to winning the A Block.
