At WWE Night of Champions 2026, Sami Zayn defeated Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Just nine days later, Zayn lost the title to CM Punk on the July 6 episode of Monday Night Raw. Following his win, Punk went on to set up a big time Undisputed WWE Title match with Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2026.

This opens the door for WWE to give Zayn a new opponent from either Raw or SmackDown for ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer.’

Here are seven potential Sami Zayn WWE SummerSlam 2026 opponents.

7. GUNTHER

After GUNTHER got involved in his non-title match against Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn inserted himself into the Undisputed WWE Championship picture on SmackDown.

This led to Zayn being the special guest referee and costing GUNTHER the title on the June 19 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Then, Sami beat Rhodes and GUNTHER to finally capture the gold at WWE Night of Champions 2026.

Following his attack on Rhodes on the July 6 WWE Raw, GUNTHER let Zayn know that he was coming after him. Despite Sami losing the title, this may still be true.

With ‘The Ring General’ laying out the SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, Sami Zayn can prove himself to be ‘The Last Real Good Guy’ by standing up for the authority figure and facing GUNTHER at WWE SummerSlam 2026.

6. Trick Williams

At WWE WrestleMania 42 night two, Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn to retain the United States Championship.

Then, Williams beat Zayn once again to retain the title at the WWE Backlash 2026 premium live event.

During this feud, Zayn became livid with his treatment from the fans who regularly booed him and loudly cheered Trick over him.

Wanting revenge for where everything went wrong with him with the fans, Zayn could take out his frustration on losing the Undisputed WWE Championship by going after the gold he lost at Mania when SummerSlam 2026 comes around.

5. Jey Uso

Following his win over Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER to win the Undisputed WWE Championship, Sami Zayn was ready to celebrate the biggest victory of his career.

However, Zayn was confronted by both Rhodes and his former Bloodline stablemate Jey Uso.

After their recent reunion, World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns sent Uso on a mission to bring the Undisputed WWE Championship to The Bloodline, but Jey was unable to win the King of the Ring or beat Cody Rhodes to earn his shot.

Feeling frustrated at losing the title he fought so hard and long for, Sami Zayn could get himself back involved with The Bloodline by attacking Jey Uso to set the stage for the friends to become enemies in time for WWE SummerSlam 2026.

4. Johnny Gargano

Over the past few months, Sami Zayn has been expressing frustrations over his failures, poor treatment from management and disrespect from the fans.

The only individual on the WWE roster who has been willing to listen is Johnny Gargano, but that is only because he has been in a state of depression lying face down backstage for months now.

On the July 10 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, CM Punk was confronted by Candice LeRae with her husband, but it was ‘The Best In The World’ who told LeRae and Gargano to snap out of it and do something else because this isn’t working.

After this ‘tough love’ from Punk, Gargano may just wake up and become ‘Johnny Wrestling’ by turning babyface against Zayn for a showdown on the WWE SummerSlam 2026 card in Minneapolis.

3. Drew McIntyre

At WWE WrestleMania 42 night one, Jacob Fatu defeated Drew McIntyre in an unsanctioned match.

Following this loss, McIntyre has not been seen on WWE television with no signs of his return despite recent reports of the filming of the Highlander reboot being over.

Back at WWE Royal Rumble 2026, ‘The Scottish Warrior’ defeated Sami Zayn to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Zayn finally trying to defeat McIntyre after going 0-12 against his rival could make for an intriguing story heading into his final chance to get the job done at WWE SummerSlam 2026.

2. LA Knight

Ever since The Bloodline reunited on Monday Night Raw, LA Knight has become the most vocal detractor of the faction.

Knight has regularly disparaged the group’s actions from the past and across the current landscape of WWE.

While he has faced the likes of The Usos and Jacob Fatu as of late, Knight could draw the ire of past members of The Bloodline as well.

Looking to reintegrate himself with his former stablemates, Sami Zayn could try to take out Knight for The Bloodline at WWE SummerSlam and earn his spot as ‘The Honorary Uce’ once again.

1. Randy Orton

Another WWE star that fans have not seen on the company’s programming since WrestleMania 42 is Randy Orton.

‘The Legend Killer’ has had an eventful 2026, making his return in January, winning the Elimination Chamber in February, turning heel while aligning with Pat McAfee in March and closing Mania in April laying out Cody Rhodes with a Punt Kick.

After losing that Undisputed WWE Championship Match at ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All,’ recent reports have indicated Orton could be back in time for WWE SummerSlam 2026.

With Sami Zayn sure to express his displeasure after losing the WWE Title to CM Punk, Orton could be the individual who shuts up the former champion and sets the stage for the two top stars to clash on a major stage at SummerSlam in Minneapolis.
