Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins & The Polarising History Of Hell In A Cell

The Good

Seth Rollins has a decent backlog of Hell In A Cell matches to rewatch ahead of tonight’s encounter, with two in particular that fall under the good category.

The first is one of the most underrated Cell matches in my opinion, when Seth Rollins challenged Kevin Owens inside the structure back at the 2016 event.

2016 Raw was actually pretty good, though it was falling short in comparison to what the blue brand was doing at the time, but Hell In A Cell was one of the brands better shows.

This match includes one of the most memorable bumps I’ve ever seen inside the Cell, when Rollins powerbombed Owens to the outside through a table against the cell wall.

The second match however, excedes ‘good’ and moves closer to ‘fantastic’, that being his match inside the cell with Edge at last year’s Crown Jewel show in Saudi Arabia.

This was honestly WWE’s match of the year for me last year, and the fact that it happened on a show in Saudi Arabia, which are typically unnoteworthy, is very bizarre to me.

Seth was on the receiving end of the memorable table bump in this match, but the whole thing is a masterclass in storytelling from two of the best to ever do it.

If Rollins vs Rhodes is anything like this one, it’ll be a great success.
