WWE
On the September 25 episode of WWE SmackDown, Trick Williams retained his United States Championship against Baron Corbin in a Steel Cage match, ending their feud that started in July.
Trick would then go on to be part of the Money In The Bank Ladder match last weekend, but with the event now behind us, he will now have to focus on defending his title once again.
There are a number of names that we could see be the next to challenge for Trick Williams’ United States Championship.
Damian Priest
After losing their WWE Tag Team Championship rematch to the MFTs, Damian Priest betrayed R-Truth, turning heel for the first time in two years.
With Priest set to face off with Truth on tonight’s SmackDown show, he will likely end up getting more heat by beating a beloved star like Truth.
After Priest is done with Truth, he would be the most obvious choice to be the next one to go after Trick.
Johnny Gargano
After he has come up short in recent attempts to enter the WWE Championship picture, Johnny Gargano may need to shift focus away from the title held by Sami Zayn right now.
If Sami is truly looking to bring opportunity to guys like himself and Johnny, then instead of Johnny trying to take Sami’s title, he could instead attempt to get a title of his own, that being the United States Championship.
Gargano has yet to win a singles championship on the main roster, and him finally doing so would be a nice way to cap off his return to form.
Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre won his fourth world championship in WWE on January 9 episode of SmackDown, but lost it back to Cody Rhodes 56 days later.
After months away from WWE television, Drew McIntyre is reportedly set to make his return soon, with all of the Scottish Warrior’s Hollywood commitments now over with.
Having won the WWE Championship earlier this year, Drew is now a four-time World Champion in the company, though there is still one title that he has yet to capture in his career: the United States Championship.
Drew returning to feud with Trick would be a major name for Trick to work with on his continued ascent in the company, with McIntyre also finally getting the chance to win the one title he has never held.
