The next challenger set to tale on Grayson Waller’s WWE NXT Championship has been revealed and it isn’t who you might think.
While main roster star Grayson Waller returned to NXT to capture the World Championship, he is set to face-off against a familiar foe at Halloween Havoc 2026.
Tangle again with Tony D

Tony D’Angelo reigned as NXT Champion for 148 days before losing the title to Grayson Waller at NXT Heatwave.
Waller’s fate was secured after a number one contender’s bout on WWE NXT was set to decide who was next up for a title shot.
On tonight’s October 13 edition of WWE NXT Tony D’Angelo went up against Myles Borne, it would be the former champ who will get the next shot at Waller.
With Grayson Waller’s return to NXT being somewhat of an interesting turn of events, there could be even more main roster talent that end up popping by in search of opportunities.
Short reign, big impact

Interestingly even if Waller’s reign was to end when he takes on Tony D’Angelo, the brief reign will end up having had an impact.
With Grayson Waller making a return to NXT to remind fans and opponents alike about his capacity in the ring as a singles star, he could end up leading a revolution of returning starts using NXT as a relaunching point.
Able to benefit from returning to NXT for a character refresh, there could definitely be more main roster stars that have failed to catch fire end following suit.
Some tag teams staying in NXT?

Nathan Frazer & Axiom held the WWE NXT Tag Team Championships for 356 days across two reigns.
With the Dusty Rhodes Classic Tag Team Tournament well underway, it could be that a few of the teams competing from the main roster stick around a bit longer in NXT.
Highly capable of making their own individual singles runs, it could be particularly interesting to see the likes of Nathan Frazer, Axiom and even Julius and Brutus Creed stay put in NXT and chase an entirely different kind of title.
With each able to make their own Cinderella story possible by targeting the NXT World Championship for the first time, there could be twists and turns still ahead for main roster stars headed back to NXT.
NXT Halloween Havoc 2026 is on October 31

After Shawn Michaels was shown on-screen telling Mr. Stone to allow Danhausen to host Halloween Havoc 2026, seemingly after being concerned about the potential of being cursed by the main roster fan favorite, it’s all but confirmed that the Very Nice, Very Evil star will be on hand.
While Grayson Waller defending his NXT Championship against Tony D’Angelo was confirmed, another title bout was made official on tonight’s October 13 WWE NXT.
Kelani Jordan will face challenger Wren Sinclair for the NXT Women’s Championship as well.
