Carmelo Hayes joins the 946: Absent WWE star joins the group in shocking Raw ending

WWE

Carmelo Hayes made his return to WWE television on tonight’s Raw show, where he became the newest member of the 946.

As WWE continues to establish new faces for the future in 2026, one name who had a very rough year creatively was Carmelo Hayes, who entered 2026 as the United States Champion.

However, Hayes lost the United States Championship to Sami Zayn ahead of WrestleMania 42, with him being left off the show altogether, and also left off SummerSlam back in August.

Hayes’ last appearance on WWE television came in August when he lost to Baron Corbin in a United States Championship clash in his hometown of Boston.

Melo had been off WWE television for two months, and the reason for that has now been revealed.

Carmelo Hayes returns on WWE Raw, joins 946

The main event of tonight’s WWE Raw show was set to see the 946 make their in-ring debut as a group, with Royce Keys, Bronco Nima and Lucien Price facing off with the Usos and Solo Sikoa.

The match was filled with chaos, with the two groups fighting into the crowd, and Jaida Parker even getting involved in the action with a dive onto both Usos.

However, the match would ultimately not end up going to a finish after Jaida Parker took out the referee, but that didn’t stop the 946 from introducing it’s newest member, that being Carmelo Hayes.

Hayes appeared behind Sikoa, taking him out with a crowbar before revealing his identity and standing tall alongside Keys, Nima, Price and Parker to close the show.

What does Carmelo Hayes’ addition to the 946 mean for War Games?

Many expect that this year’s Survivor Series will feature the 946 facing off against the Bloodline, with the Bloodline’s team consisting of Roman Reigns, the Usos, Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa.

Assuming that WWE doesn’t insert Jaida Parker into the match and replace one of the other Bloodline members with a returning Naomi, the 946 will still need another member to even the numbers for War Games.

The group has continued to add members, but Melo should ideally be the last, meaning the fifth member of the War Games team should be someone only temporarily aligning with the 946, with the most obvious choices being either LA Knight following a heel turn or the returning Drew McIntyre.
