Carmelo Hayes joining up with the 946 has reportedly been in the works since back in July, with WWE said to be “very happy” with the group’s run together so far.
The main event of the October 12 episode of WWE Raw saw Royce Keys’ 946 faction finally step into the ring for the first time since forming in late August.
Flanked by new 946 member Jaida Parker, Keys, Lucien Price and Bronco Nima took on The Bloodline’s Jimmy & Jey Uso, as well as their younger brother Solo Sikoa – who was recruited for the match by Roman Reigns.
And it was Solo who appeared set to put down Keys in the match’s closing stages, only for a mystery fifth member of 946 to show up and attack “Solo Dolo” with a crowbar.
That individual was revealed to be none other than SmackDown’s Carmelo Hayes, who had been off TV for almost two months before last night’s Raw.
With Hayes making 946 an even more formidable outfit than they already were, False Finish have now revealed that the former United States Champion has been “a lock” for the 946 since July.
It was also noted that WWE are “very happy” with the presentation of 946 thus far, with the feeling among officials in the company being that Keys and the rest of 946 have “knocked it out of the park.”

Another source noted that Carmelo Hayes has been a lock for the group since July. Hayes wrapped up his chase for the United States Championship on August 14 against Baron Corbin.
946 has enough for a four man WarGames team, but will they still yet add a fifth?
946’s recruitment in recent weeks is coming at a good time, as they will likely soon need to field a team for WarGames at Survivor Series on November 28.
In recent years WarGames has pitted two teams of five against each other, however, there has been four vs. four matches in the past.
If WWE wants to truly break new ground this year, they could put on the first mixed gender WarGames match with Jaida Parker fighting alongside Keys, Nima, Price and Hayes.
This would obviously require The Bloodline finding themselves a female teammate however, and with uncertainty surrounding when Jimmy Uso’s wife Naomi will be returning, it’s hard to say if WWE will be going in that direction.
What may instead happen is WWE simply add another man to 946 before they get to WarGames; whether a permanent member, or a temporary allegiance with another WWE star who hates The Bloodline as much as they do.
There are obviously plenty of those to choose from in the locker room, with LA Knight and Drew McIntyre being two potential options, but a new official member may be a better way to go in the long-term.
