Do you remember those All About The Numbers videos that WWE used to do to promote the Royal Rumble?
They’d have some things in there about longest times, most eliminations, best numbers that sort of thing. But there was also… you know, rubbish things.
FOR 20 LONG YEARS THE WARLORD. THERE HAVE BEEN 4 TONNES OF HUMANITY IN THE RUMBLE THATS 6,000 BIG SHOWS or some stupid nonsense. What’s the point in knowing that?
Well, it’s fun I guess. In a way. And these facts I’m about to give you are all equally as pointless, but I’m sure you’ll also agree, they’re pretty fun.
Many of these facts have come from Darren’s Win-Loss Records, Facts and Stats – a brilliant little site that has loads of fun info about the Rumble.
13. The earliest a Royal Rumble event has been held is January 15th
Hoooh boy we are starting out hot!
The Royal Rumble is traditionally a late January affair with 24 of the 37 Rumble events (including this year’s show) taking place in the last week of the month.
However, things could have maybe been very different had WWE followed the lead of the second Rumble in 1989; which took place smack bang in the middle of January on the 15th.
Now, prior to 2004, it was much more common to see it air slightly earlier than we’re used to now.
Typically they’d hover between the 19th-23rd of January, but this was taking the eager beaver thing way too far.
