There are a litany of different stars on the free agency market who have history in WWE that could be signed to the company in the weeks and months to come.

Looking at that history, there are several former WWE Tag Team Champions available that may come to the promotion somewhere down the line.

Whether it be the WWE Tag Team, World Tag Team, NXT Tag Team or Women’s Tag Team Championships, these titles have been held by quite a few former WWE stars that could make an impact if they re-signed.

Here are six former WWE Tag Team Champions to potentially re-sign with the company.

6. Baron Corbin

During his second run in WWE NXT, Baron Corbin joined forces with Bron Breakker and formed The Wolf Dogs.

The duo went on to win the NXT Tag Team Championship, but the reign did not go on too long at all.

Now that he is a free agent, WWE might want to bring Corbin back in the fold as a reliable in-ring performer.

Corbin re-signing with WWE could see him become a regularly featured singles or tag team star who can stand toe-to-toe with anyone on the roster.

5. Shayna Baszler

Shayna Baszler was released from WWE in May 2025 and has since only made sporadic appearances across the wrestling world.

‘The Queen of Spades’ is still an accomplished and skilled in-ring performer who can be utilized in a significant way.

Over the past year, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Nia Jax and Ronda Rousey has been featured in backstage or pre-taped segments on NXT TV.

Baszler re-signing with WWE could lead to her being highlighted as a singles or tag team performer on NXT or the main roster.

4. Kairi Sane

On April 24, WWE had its latest mass talent cuts with over 30 wrestlers being released from the company.

One of the most notable names on the WWE roster who was released had to have been Kairi Sane.

The former Kabuki Warriors member was in the middle of a storyline with Asuka and IYO SKY that felt incomplete as a result of this decision.

WWE admitting their mistake and bringing Kairi back into the company would be fitting and give her a ton of momentum in a third stint with the promotion.

3. Dakota Kai

From last year’s WWE release, there was no name more surprising than Dakota Kai for a multitude of reasons.

The former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion was often one of the most underrated and dependable in-ring performers in the company.

Kai, now known as Charlie, has shown absolutely no ring rust since returning to competition across several different promotions.

Needing more versatile performers on their roster, Kai could re-sign with WWE and become an even bigger star for the company moving forward.

2. Carmella

Back in 2025, Carmella revealed that her WWE contract had expired and she was now a free agent.

Carmella is someone who has displayed a great deal of charisma, personality and presence since her main roster debut in 2016.

Among her accomplishments, Carmella is a former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion and Ms. Money In The Bank.

After making teases on social media, Mella could re-sign with WWE in the near future with a distinct role that might be different from what she has done in the past.

1. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)

After leaving WWE in 2020, FTR went on to become one of the greatest tag teams in AEW history.

Over the past six years, Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler are three-time AEW World Tag Team Champions, ROH World Tag Team Champions, IWGP Tag Team Champions and AAA Tag Team Champions.

With ten total titles won throughout their careers, FTR might want to wind things down in the company they first met one another.

Considering their AEW contracts are set to expire in 2027, FTR might be set to become The Revival once again and re-sign with WWE to redeem their initial run in the company.
