WWE NXT has announced the 14 duos who will compete in this year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
With pairings from NXT, Raw, SmackDown and Lucha Libre AAA, this looks to be a compelling tournament with multiple tag teams having the chance to win.
Whether it be current champions or former winners of the tournament, there looks to be some favorites who have separated themselves from the pack.
Here are the four most likely winners of this year’s WWE NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament.
The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes)
One of the first duos announced for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic was reigning NXT Tag Team Champions The Vanity Project.
At WWE NXT Heatwave, Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes regained the gold from Tavion Heights and Myles Borne.
Now enjoying their second reign, Baylor and Smokes have the chance to add another accolade to their resumè.
Winning the Dusty Classic would put The Vanity Project on an even higher level moving forward.
The Wagner Brothers (El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno)
At WWE AAA TripleMania 34 Sunday, The Wagner Brothers defeated The War Raiders to become the new AAA World Tag Team Champions.
El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. and Galeno will start their maiden reign by entering the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
Wagner 3G is no stranger to WWE NXT where he has challenged for the NXT North American Championship in the past.
Now with a bye in the first round, The Wagner Brothers could put themselves on the map with a win in the Dusty Classic.
The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed)
Back in 2022, The Creed Brothers gained their first accomplishment by winning that year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
From there, Julius and Brutus Creed went on to become NXT Tag Team Champions.
After a disappointing on the WWE main roster, The Creeds have recently made their return to the NXT brand.
The Creed Brothers becoming the first duo to win two Dusty Classics could be the best way to give them a renewed push on NXT.
Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom)
Back in 2024, Nathan Frazer and Axiom became a pairing in that year’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
Becoming Fraxiom, the duo went on to lose in the finals of the tournament, but Frazer and Axiom went on to become two-time NXT Tag Team Champions.
While they have had some memorable matches on WWE SmackDown, Fraxiom could regain momentum by completing some unfinished business on NXT.
Fraxiom returning to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic would be a full circle moment and see them get back to the top of tag team wrestling in WWE.
