At WWE NXT Heatwave 2026, The Vanity Project defeated Myles Borne and Tavion Heights to win the NXT Tag Team Championships.
After losing the gold, Borne and Heights had no time to think about what went wrong.
Later in the show, Borne lost the NXT North American Championship to Jackson Drake.
Feeling frustrated at losing two titles in one night, Borne snapped and laid out his best friend Heights in a shocking betrayal.
Since then, Borne has explained that he felt like Heights was going to turn his back on him and just wanted to pull the trigger before he did.
This has led to Myles Borne expressing some regret for his decision and betrayal.
Ahead of their face-to-face confrontation on the September 15 WWE NXT, it is interesting to think about what could be next for Borne and Tavion Heights moving forward.
Why Myles why?
2026 has been a banner year for Myles Borne who has risen to be a breakout star on NXT.
In February, Borne defeated Ethan Page to become the new NXT North American Champion.
This marked his first title win on the NXT brand after making his debut in 2022.
Holding the prestigious gold led to Borne being challenged by his former No Quarter Catch Crew stablemate and best friend Tavion Heights.
This followed months of teased dissension with the two with Heights showing some signs of jealousy to his friend’s success.
Then at WWE NXT The Great American Bash 2026, Borne defeated Heights to retain the title.
While this could have been a breaking point for them, Myles and Tavion came together even stronger.
That led to Heights and Borne finally defeating The Vanity Project to win the NXT Tag Team Championships on the August 4 episode of WWE NXT.
With this being his first title victory, Tavion Heights stated that he did not want he would do if he lost those championships.
After losing the gold at Heatwave, Heights did give Borne a glare with his back turned.
This look is what gave Borne the impression that Heights was going to betray him.
With his sudden regret and doubt about his decision, WWE has the chance to tell a story of a babyface who turned heel and immediately regretted.
However, it feels like this may just be a ruse to give Tavion Heights a false sense of security.
The real Myles Borne stands up
The September 15 episode of WWE NXT could display a totally different side of Myles Borne‘s persona.
Borne snapping could be the best way to show that he no longer has that regret.
While he has been a heel in the past, Borne has never had to play this kind of role before.
Bringing a new level of intensity to this story, Borne needs to accept this is who he is now.
Deciding to fully accept his villainous side, Borne needs to brutally attack Heights.
Drawing the line in the sand might be the best way to give Borne a character that is akin to his mentor Randy Orton.
An unhinged Myles Borne seems like the correct direction and could lead to his emergence as a top star on WWE NXT moving forward.
