WWE Raw September 17 2018 – Highs and Lows

High: Drew looks like a future World Champion

One man who does look like a realistic future World Champion is Drew McIntyre, who followed up a scorching pay-per-view return the night before with a win over Dean Ambrose.

Drew is clearly being protected and positioned as a future headline act.

He deserves it. Nobody has worked harder than McIntyre over the past few years. He left WWE following his horrible 3MB mistreatment and made himself into a star on the indy circuit and then in NXT.

He looks great, his work is phenomenal and he can cut a promo. He is the total package.

Of course, Drew will probably return the favor for Ambrose next week, rendering all of this irrelevant. Let’s hope not.

Low: Totally the Bellas

I am sorry, I just cannot abide either of them.

It’s probably my own fault for subjecting myself to their inane nonsense for years as a regular viewer (yeah, I admit it) of Total Divas and Total Bellas.

The return of the Bellas to television has been one of WWE’s biggest lows of the year in general. I genuinely believe Brie to be the worst worker on the entire roster, an opinion I will argue until I am blue in the face.

The terrible twins did not do much other than a badly acted backstage segment with Ronda Rousey and Natalya, then a run-in to save Ronda from a Riott Squad attack. It was still too much.

Why does Brie get to be on both shows anyway?

Why are the Bellas getting pushed in plum spots ahead of other far more deserving workers? Their lame output was one of the reasons we needed a women’s revolution in the first place. Yet WWE’s retconned history declares them as two of the faces of the movement! It’s both baffling and maddening.

Worse is the knowledge that Nikki is going to turn on Ronda to set up a match between the pair. Evidently that clash will be the main event of Evolution. Is there really anybody who wants to see that? I know I don’t.
