WWE stars to join Randy Orton against Cody Rhodes: Will ‘The Viper’ look to the locker room for help after Cody’s latest threat?

After failing to pull the trigger at Sunday Night’s Main Event, Cody Rhodes vowed on WWE SmackDown that he would not hesitate the next time he gets an opportunity to take out Randy Orton.

With ‘The American Nightmare’ seeming determined to deliver on this promise in the coming weeks, Randy Orton may have to look to the locker room for some support against his former protégé.

Here are three WWE stars who could potentially join Randy Orton against Cody Rhodes.

Myles Borne

The name constantly speculated about one day becoming an on-screen ally or student of Randy Orton is NXT’s Myles Borne.

Borne solidified his heel turn with another attack on former tag partner Tavion Heights this past Tuesday on NXT (September 15), and in doing so he showcased the cold-blooded characteristics that ‘The Viper’ would certainly be proud of.

Although Borne still has some unfinished business in NXT, there really wouldn’t be a better scenario for Borne to walk into on the main roster than an allegiance with one of WWE’s all-time best.

With Cody previously being under Randy Orton’s learning tree, he could also relate to Borne being courted by the 14-time world champion, and give him the necessary warnings about what the role entails.

Ricky Saints

Aside from Randy Orton, there is perhaps nobody who Cody Rhodes is closer to than Ricky Saints.

However, fans have seen no evidence of that friendship translating to WWE TV; instead, Saints looked to make an immediate name for himself on the blue brand by confronting Rhodes on his first night back on the May 1 episode of SmackDown.

With Saints finding it difficult to get consistent TV time on SmackDown lately, an allegiance with a higher profile name may be exactly what he needs, and if it’s not Cody it could very well be his rival Randy Orton.

Making reference to Saints and Cody’s friendship, Ricky could approach Orton and offer him intel on Cody that could lead to Randy getting the jump on him backstage. Seeing how Saints can be of use to him, a partnership could be struck up, with Saints acting as an underling ‘The Viper.’

Drew McIntyre

With five months now passing since his last appearance, fans will be hoping to see Drew McIntyre back on WWE TV soon; and in a high profile role at that.

While his last match and feud came against Jacob Fatu, McIntyre certainly also has a massive bone to pick with Cody Rhodes; as ‘The American Nightmare’ snatched away his opportunity to walk into WrestleMania 42 as Undisputed WWE Champion and defend the gold against Randy Orton.

With McIntyre and Orton having a common foe, they could align out of convenience, and continue a working relationship until one of them captures the Undisputed WWE Title.

The SmackDown main event picture is stacked with talent right now, so there’s an argument that Drew may be better suited moving to Raw, but an allegiance with Orton would certainly be an interesting route WWE could go with should he return to the blue brand.
