AEW is hosting a tournament to determine the next challenger for Hikaru Shida and the AEW Women’s Championship. They recently announced the brackets with half the tournament taking place in Japan.
The Japan side of the bracket began tonight on YouTube. 4 women advanced in the tournament.
Yuka Sakazaki defeated Mei Suruga. Additionally, Emi Sakura defeated Veny. As a result, Emi Sakura and Yuka Sakazaki will face off next Monday on YouTube.

In the other half of the Japan bracket, Ryo Mizunami defeated Maki Itoh. Ryo will move on to face Aja Kong. Kong defeated Rin Kadokura in her opening match.
Thunder Rosa had already advanced after beating Leyla Hirsch. Serena Deeb and Riho will face off this week in the tournament.
The final two matches in the first round are Tay Conti vs. Nyla Rose and Britt Baker vs. Anna Jay. WrestleTalk will keep you updated on the results of the tournament as they happen.
