It appears that AAA Mega Champion Hijo Del Vikingo could be set to make his AEW debut soon, following a confrontation with the Young Bucks.
Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide has now shared a video featuring Vikingo, Matt & Nick Jackson, shot following TripleMania XXX In Monterey. On the April 30 show, the Young Bucks defeated Vikingo & Rey Fenix in the tag-team main event.
In the new video, Matt and Nick taunt Vikingo, suggesting that they should challenge for the AAA Mega Title now. Matt then pitched for the champion to pay AEW a visit, before Nick teased Kenny Omega’s return.
Vikingo notably won the vacant AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania Regia II, after Kenny Omega was forced to relinquish the gold ahead of his wrestling hiatus, ending his record 765 day reign.
Vikingo claimed the gold in a fiveway bout, defeating Bandido, Samuray Del Sol (fka Kalisto), and AEW stars Bobby Fish & Jay Lethal.
AEW and AAA have maintained a relationship since the AEW’s early days, with several AEW stars wrestling during TripleMania XXX In Monterey. At the event, Sammy Guevara & Tay Conti won the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship. Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler of FTR have held the AAA World Tag Team Championship since October 2021, winning the gold on AEW TV from the Lucha Bros.
