Former UK football star Adebayo Akinfenwa has recalled talks with WWE prior to his wrestling debut plans.
Akinfenwa is currently preparing for his wrestling debut at the November 27 PROGRESS Chapter 146: They Think It’s All Over event. During this show, Akinfenwa will team with Anthony Ogogo to face Malik & Kosta Konstantino.
Speaking with Cultaholic, Akinfenwa elaborated further, confirming that he and Triple H have exchanged messages:
“There were conversations. There was truth in the conversations. My team sat down with their team. Me and Triple H had sent messages back and forth but these were times when I was 100% concentrated on football.
“Now I’m retired and I’ve said this, I was lucky enough to play for 22 years but now I’ve finished, I’m going to try my hand at as many different things and what lands, lands. I’m going to try and enjoy the next chapter of my life.”
Triple H now has more power in WWE. He has been in charge of WWE creative since July as the company’s Chief Content Officer.
Akinfenwa has also commented on the possibility of an AEW debut, which you can read more about right here.
