**UPDATE – AEW has since announced that Battle of the Belts IV will air live at 10pm EST on October 7, with Rampage starting at 9pm EST, going head to head with the last hour of SmackDown.**
Since the beginning of 2022, AEW has begun airing quarterly television specials on TNT named ‘AEW Battle of the Belts’.
The first Battle of the Belts show aired on January 8, 2022, and was main evented by Britt Baker retaining the AEW Women’s World Championship against Riho.
The second edition of the show was main evented by Thunder Rosa defending the AEW Women’s World Championship against Nyla Rose on April 15, while the third show on August 5 saw Claudio Castagnoli and Konosuke Takeshita throw down in the main event for the ROH World Championship.
The fourth edition of the show has now been announced, and it’s sure to spark a lot of discussion.
AEW Battle of the Belts IV is set to be taped following the live episode of Rampage in Washington DC on October 7, with it airing the following day on Saturday, October 8.
That date is the same day that WWE Extreme Rules takes place in Philadelphia, which means, while no time slot has been announced for Battle of the Belts, the two events will be airing on the same day, if not directly opposed to each other.
The previous three iterations of Battle of the Belts have started at 8pm EST, which would mean it would start at the same time as Extreme Rules, but again, no air time has been announced, so this could change.
