AEW Champion Attacked Backstage, Unable To Compete AEW

AEW World Champion MJF was attacked backstage on tonight’s Dynamite, forcing him to be unable to compete in a tag match.

After a backstage exchange of words between Hangman Adam Page and MJF earlier in the night, later MJF was attacked.

While MJF and Samoa Joe were set to team together against ‘Two of the Devils masked men’, the match would never come to be.

While Samoa Joe made an entrance, then the lights in the arena flashed as he became surrounded on all four sides of the ring by masked figures.

Then, the ‘Devil’ himself appeared on screen before the feed was cut to footage of MJF, lying face down with seemingly a glass bottle broken around him.

With the AEW World Heavyweight Championship title belt splayed out in front of the passed out Friedman, Samoa Joe ran from the ring seemingly to investigate.

Interestingly, in the earlier exchange it was MJF who accused Hangman Adam Page of being ‘The Devil’ with Samoa Joe interrupting before the tense exchange could turn physical.

By the end of the show, there was no official update provided on MJF’s status.

MJF did suffer a legitimate injury during his match against Jay White at Full Gear a couple of weeks ago, but is set to face Samoa Joe at Worlds End on December 30.
