AEW
After weeks of uncertainty and an expiring contract, the future of an AEW star has been assured, with Jim Ross sharing his thoughts.
Jack Perry’s AEW contract was recently described as being up “very shortly“, with speculation that the star could seek his future outside of the company he has called home since 2019.
This week’s episode of Dynamite revealed that Perry would be staying with AEW, setting his sights on a world championship.
Speaking on the recent episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross shared his thoughts on Perry continuing as an AEW star, saying:
“It’s good that they’re keeping him. He’s still one of my favorite talents. He works hard, understands that he’s got to continue to evolve his game, that’s imperative, so important.
“I’m a Jungle Jack Perry fan. He’s a sweetheart of a kid, no doubt about that. Handsome little rascal, Nice hair, I tell you that.
“All’s good. That’s a good deal that they got him re-signed. I would have said that was a big priority signing before it happened, and now it’s happened, it just makes us all support him and look better.”

A former TNT Champion and National Champion, Perry debuted in AEW at Double or Nothing back in May 2019, being among the first stars to sign with the company earlier that year.

Perry Goes Global
A profilic 2019 was the last time that Jack Perry really spread his wings beyond AEW, competing across the independent scene throughout that year.
From 2020, the focus of the then-Jungle Boy would be pretty much on AEW exclusively, save for a quartet of matches that took place at that year’s Jericho Cruise event, seeing him compete against MJF, before teaming with Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt.
The backstage incident involving CM Punk in 2023 would see Perry suspended from AEW duties, with the star heading over to NJPW and being reborn as the Scapegoat, further abandoning any vestiges of his Jungle Boy persona and joining the House of Torture faction.
Perry remains primarily an AEW star, rarely competing outside of that ecosystem, although he did re-unite with Stunt at GCW Joey Janela’s Spring Break X in April of this year, marking the first time the pair had shared the ring since facing each other on Collision in July 2024.
