Having become AEW World Champion on last night’s Dynamite, Kenny Omega has laid out a vision of the future, with a nod to MJF.

The July 8 episode of Dynamite saw Kenny Omega overcome MJF to claim the World Championship for the second time in his career.

Speaking after his victory in comments shared on YouTube, Omega reflected on what’s to come and the support he has received as an AEW star, saying:

“There’s an old saying: If anyone could be a professional wrestler, if anybody can be a champion so easily, then, heck, probably everyone would do it.

“But, the truth is, none of this came easy. I could never have done it without the support of the people who are my friends, my family, who could have at any point kick me out of my house and follow a different dream, but I always had the support. Not just in my friends, not just in my family, but in my inherited family, and that means each and every one of you.

“Now, I can’t lie. Holding this belt just doesn’t seem quite proper, but holding what it represents, that being the AEW World Championship, now that, that means the world. So, from now until someone is good enough, someone is willing to sacrifice enough, someone is willing to push hard enough, this is going to stay around my waist, I can promise you that.

“I may be more near the end than I am the beginning of this journey, but what counts is that you finish hard and that you finish the race. No matter how hard everything is, you finish the race.”

Omega would also praise MJF for his actions as AEW World Champion, noting that he will leave the outspoken star with a new found respect for his successor, stating:

“That being said, MJF, I will give you credit. You never had to take this match. You never had to defend the belt as much as you did. You never had to show up every single week, but you did. And, as far as I’m concerned, that sets a good example.

“MJF, not only will I be the best champion I can be, but I’ll be a champion that even you are jealous of.

“So, until next time, which probably is going to be next week, I must bid you adieu. So, goodbye everyone, and good night bang.”

The newly crowned champion would also share his thoughts on Twitter, reflecting on the lengthy journey to recapture a title he last held back in December 2020, posting:

“After 1,698 days of waiting to get it back, we finished the race. Thank you for never giving up on me and always believing, one more time.”

With AEW All In: London taking place on August 30, at the time of writing, Will Ospreay will be facing Kenny Omega for the World Championship.

Ospreay Vs. Omega 3?

The winner of this year’s Owen Hart Tournament, Will Ospreay is set to challenge for the AEW World Championship at AEW All In: London.

With a new AEW World Champion, Ospreay would reflect on what’s to come at Wembley Stadium in a post on Twitter that reads:

“Sunday 30th August 2026

“Main Event.

“AEW World Championship.

“Wembley Stadium.

“Ospreay Vs Omega 3.”

It’s a very succinct post from the Aerial Assassin, clearly capturing the significance of the match on his home soil, against an opponent he knows well for a title that he no doubt covets.

Since crossing paths in NJPW back in 2016, Ospreay and Omega have faced each other two times, with a previous match taking place in PWG. That match aside, the Ospreay and Omega who faced each other at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 and at Forbidden Door in 2023 are very different beasts to the stars fans witness today.

Ospreay has, if anything, risen to even greater heights, having signed his first AEW contract in 2023 and remaining a dominant presence on television since. For Omega, he is very much aware, as he noted in his post-victory comments, that the end of his journey may be approaching, having previously commented on the illness that had sidelined him.

There will no doubt be much anticipation for Ospreay vs. Omega 3, with both stars currently at 1-1 in a program that saw the IWGP United States Championship change hands twice.

When it comes to a future for the AEW World Championship, no doubt MJF will be keeping an eye on proceedings, and the recently re-signed Jack Perry certainly has it in his sights.
