The truth behind rumored plans to rename Judgment Day in WWE has been revealed by one of the faction’s former members.

Back in 2024, reports emerged that Judgment Day was going to undergo an evolution, with the faction being potentially renamed as ‘Street Trash‘.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Finn Balor, who was at the time a member of Judgment Day, has shed light on the previously rumored renaming.

With Van Vliet asking if it was true that the faction would be known as ‘Street Trash’, Balor would respond:

“No, so that came from there being a program at Gunther, I think it was Gunther and Dom, and he referred to us all as street trash, and we said let’s just lean into it, we’re the Judgment Day, we’re street trash, and we kind of just leaned into it, but it didn’t really catch on, yeah.

“People remember, like Bullet Club and The Demon; they don’t remember like Street Trash. It’s not all like home runs.”

Balor was a member of Judgment Day from June 2022 until being ejected from the faction in March of this year.

In recent comments, Adam Copeland (known to WWE fans as Edge) revealed Vince McMahon’s reaction to the now-AEW star wanting to see Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley as part of the first iteration of the faction.

Putting The Name In The Trash

‘Street Trash’ may not have been the name for Judgment Day, but it would be something that WWE would lean into, with merchandise released around the theme after Ripley and Priest were removed.

It would also be noted that Judgment Day would remain as a name, although the ‘Street Trash’ term would be part of the gimmick, with a report stating that Balor was the one to come up with the name.

Arguably, it could have been a bold move to rebrand Judgment Day, a popular faction through its iterations, to something else.

For some stars, they may see adjustments to their names, with WWE giving us “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio and “Big” Bronson Reed”, as just two examples. There have also been more baffling creative decisions, such as renaming Humberto Carrillo as just Berto, a change which continues to this day.

Fans may dislike changes to the presentation of WWE stars, but it’s something that the creative minds will try from time to time, no doubt to see what sticks. Dominik Mysterio has recently commented that being adaptable is an important thing for success as a WWE star, with presentation changes potentially being part of that very approach.
