Major Title Change On AEW Dynamite

A major title change has taken place in the main event of tonight’s July 8 Beach Break episode of AEW Dynamite.

Last week, MJF and Kenny Omega agreed to an AEW World Championship match for tonight, with the added stipulation that if Omega loses, he can never challenge for the title again.

That match took place tonight, and it was Omega who scored the win to become the new AEW World Champion.

The win marks Omega’s second AEW World Title reign after he held the title for 346 days from December 2020 to November 2021 as the promotion’s third ever World Champion.

It brings to an end MJF’s third reign with the title at 45 days after he won it from Darby Allin at Double Or Nothing on May 24.

In other news from Dynamite tonight, Kyle Fletcher defeated Konosuke Takeshita to win the International Title, and Willow Nightingale won the Casino Gauntlet match which means she will challenge Thekla for the Women’s World Title at Redemption.

The Main Event For AEW All In London 2026

AEW, more specifically Tony Khan, has had an interesting decision to make heading into All In London in Wembley Stadium at the end of August.

On one hand, the main event prior to tonight looked to be MJF, AEW’s top heel and proven top ratings mover, MJF, defending the title against the promotion’s top babyface, Will Ospreay.

However, the other option has been the ultimate non-WWE dream match between Ospreay and Kenny Omega.

Now that Omega has won the AEW World Championship from MJF, it appears the decision is the latter.

MJF vs Ospreay is a big match that AEW will be able to come back to for years to come, assuming both men remain signed with the company.

Meanwhile, this may well be the final chance at getting Ospreay vs Omega in on a major stage like Wembley Stadium before Omega’s career comes to an end.

There is also the option of doing a three-way match, but we’ll have to see how things play out in the coming weeks.
