An AEW name has described the ‘compromises’ that he wasn’t willing to make when assessing whether or not he would join the company.
In a new interview with POST Wrestling, Chris Hero spoke about his recent work on the independent scene and how before electing to join AEW, he needed to be sure he was able to continue doing it.
Hero was specifically brought into AEW as a producer for Collision, although he has said he won’t call himself “exclusive” to Collision as he has worked all of AEW’s weekly shows by now.
However before agreeing to take on the role, he wanted to be sure he wasn’t needing to abandon West Coast Pro, the independent promotion that he has been orchestrating for the past several months.
Hero said:
“I was very specific in certain compromises I didn’t want to make. I’ve been putting this time and effort into West Coast Pro, and they’ve also been giving their time to me and allowing me to kind of play around with things and work with stuff. So the last thing I wanted to do was put three, four months of work into West Coast Pro and then [say] ‘see you guys!’”
Chris Hero has an extensive history in the professional wrestling industry, including two stints in WWE under his NXT ring name, Kassius Ohno.
