AEW Star Reveals Origins Of Unique Look AEW

Former AEW Women’s Champion has explained the origins of her facepaint, explaining why she only paints half of her face.

Speaking on Hey! (EW), Rosa confirmed that her facepaint is based off the Mexican celebration Dia de los Muertos (day of the dead).

Explaining the celebration, Rosa noted:

“We throw parties after our ancestors pass away, not because we’re happy that they’re dead, but we’re celebrating their life. It’s not that we’re happy they’re dead.”

Revealing the reason why she only paints half of her face, she said:

“(A promoter) said, ‘Use the face paint because we need to get more Latino fans,’ and then I put it on and he’s like, ‘You’re too pretty and you should use half of it.”

Rosa recently made her return on the May 10 edition of AEW Dynamite, walking into Tony Khan’s office in a backstage segment.
