An injured AEW star has recently been backstage at Dynamite after over a year out of action due to surgery.
Kyle O’Reilly has been out of action for 18 months, with him last competing on the June 8, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he was defeated by Jon Moxley in an Interim AEW World Championship number one contender’s match.
O’Reilly has been out of action due to a neck fusion surgery, with his potential return to the ring being long speculated, if it were to even happen at all.
In an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), O’Reilly has been backstage at recent events, with him said to have been looking like he could return to AEW programming after a time when it looked unlikely.
Kyle underwent his neck fusion surgery in September 2022, but unfortunately experienced a post-surgical issue in the months after.
O’Reilly has been said to have been working out with a strength and conditioning specialist for months.
O’Reilly has been speculated as a potential name to be revealed as one of the masked attackers alongside the Devil in AEW, due to his storied history with Adam Cole.
MJF will team with Samoa Joe to face two of the Devil’s masked assailants on tonight’s show.
