AEW signee Chuck Taylor (Chuckie T) says he was rejected by WWE in 2015. His revelation came as a response to a tweet from NXT’s Johnny Gargano, who stated that in spite of his initial rejection from the company, the fans have helped him get to the position he is today. The former NXT North American Champion is set to main event NXT Takeover: New York with Adam Cole for the vacant NXT Championship on April 5th.
It didn't matter if it was a dark match in Full Sail or my 1st TakeOver at the Barclays Center..
YOU chanted "Johnny Wrestling".. YOU believed in me.. and they listened.
We fought together to make any of this happen.
We will fight to make one last dream come true in New York.
— Johnny Gargano (@JohnnyGargano) March 28, 2019
Taylor wrestled for Ring of Honor between 2016-2019, often tagging with former WWE star Beretta. He would also work in Japan for NJPW during the same time period as part of the CHAOS stable with former IWGP Heavyweight Champion and winner of the 2019 New Japan Cup Kazuchika Okada.
Chuckie T would share his rejection letter from Canyon Ceman, who works as the Senior Director of Talent Development for WWE:

If this doesn’t prove the old saying of ”if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again” to be true, then what will? The two talented performers have proved that rejection does not mean the end of the road, and are now show just how good they are.
