WWE Crown Jewel is set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia this Saturday.
The main event of the show will see Roman Reigns make the next defence of his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against LA Knight.
Knight’s meteoric rise in WWE has taken place this year, with him being introduced to the WWE main roster audience as Max Dupri, the manager of the Maximum Male Models.
Following Vince McMahon leaving WWE creative last year, Triple H reverted Knight back to the LA Knight name, where he has since become one of the most popular names in the company.
Speaking on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy discussed Knight’s match with Roman, noting that it was ‘wild’ that Vince McMahon didn’t see what he could become.
He said:
“Just imagine if someone said to you a year ago, just go two years. Well, LA Knight could be a threat to Roman Reigns. What was his name before? Max Dupri. And just the fact, very happy for him because he is a very hard worker, and I was a big fan of his, as we’d discussed on the podcast before. But the fact Vince didn’t see that and kind of missed what could have been is very wild, and that’s very telling of the thing that Vince isn’t necessarily in creative now.”
Speaking on the match however, Hardy said that he sees Roman keeping ahold of the title, eventually losing it at WrestleMania or SummerSlam.
He added:
“I think Roman is still going to continue to reign on as the champion. And I see Roman dropping the title on the biggest of platforms, you know, on the biggest stage, I’m guessing at a WrestleMania or SummerSlam at a minimum.”
