When Triple H gained control of WWE creative following the retirement of Vince McMahon back in July, the policy regarding WWE signings was also softened.
In the last year of the McMahon regime, WWE opted against signing independent wrestling stars, instead targeting college athletes.
The change in regime has once again led to a mixture of talents being scouted, which now means independent wrestlers are also included alongside the college athletes.
Per PWInsider, the WWE Performance Center is currently holding tryouts in Orlando, Florida. The tryouts began December 5 and are set to last until the end of this week.
The first name confirmed to be in attendance is former MLW star KC Navarro, who reportedly had major interest from the company recently.
The other is former NWA and AEW women’s star Kylie Rae. Kylie first signed with AEW back in 2019, but was let go from the company after only a few months.
UPDATE – It’s also since been reported by PWInsider that former ROH stars Vincent & Dutch of the Righteous, who were spotted in the crowd during the December 6 edition of NXT, are at this week’s tryouts too.
Another independent wrestling star is expected to sign with WWE in January, which you can read about here.
