AEW star Daniel Garcia has opened up about his concerns that he will become a one-hit wonder because of his dance.
With Garcia having to decide whether he’s a pure wrestler or a sports entertainer at multiple points throughout his AEW career, the young star has gotten his signature dance over with fans.
Speaking with The Messenger, Garcia shared his honest thoughts on the reception to his dance, noting that he almost views it as a ‘cheat code’ at the moment.
Worried that he’s becoming a one-hit wonder, he explained:
“People used to come up to me before the dance like, ‘Oh, you’re such a good wrestler. Now, people come up to me and say, ‘Oh, I like the dance.’
“They don’t even talk about my wrestling. That’s the last thing on their mind.
“Part of me feels like the dance is almost a cheat code, it feels like I’m kind of taking the easy way out sometimes. That’s genuinely how I feel.
“I feel like an artist who has one one major No. 1 song. Like everyone just knows him for that one song now, even though they have years and years and years of a great catalog.
Now everyone just wants to hear that one song. That’s all people care about.”
Garcia challenged for MJF’s AEW World Championship on the November 8 edition of Dynamite, losing after MJF was able to capitalise when Garcia was distracted doing his dance.
MJF recently shared praise for Garcia, which you can read more about right here.
